Privacy Policy

Parivartan Trust is a public charitable trust registered in Bihar. This policy explains what personal information this website collects, why we collect it, who else sees it, and how long we keep it. It applies to this website only.
If anything here is unclear, or you want to exercise one of the rights described below, write to the Grievance Officer at not yet published. You may write in Hindi or English.
What we collect, and why
If you donate
When you give through this website we ask for your name, mobile number, the amount, and the cause you are giving to. Your email address is optional — we ask for it only so we can email your receipt, and you can give without it.
If you choose to have your donation reported for 80G tax purposes, we additionally ask for your address and one identity document number — your PAN, or if you have no PAN, your passport or voter ID number. This part is optional. If you decline it, your donation still goes through and you still receive a receipt; we simply do not report the donation to the Income Tax Department, and no deduction certificate follows.
We do not ask for and do not store Aadhaar numbers.
We record the fact that you ticked the consent box, the date and time you ticked it, and which version of this policy was in force at that moment.
We never see or store your card number, UPI ID, bank details, CVV, or any part of your payment instrument. Those go directly to our payment gateway. What comes back to us is a payment reference, the payment method used, and whether the payment succeeded.
We use this information to process the payment, issue your receipt, keep the accounts the trust is legally required to keep, file the trust’s annual statement of donations with the Income Tax Department where you have asked us to report your donation, and contact you if there is a problem with your donation.
If you fill in a form
The site has three forms — volunteering, general contact, and corporate partnership enquiries. Between them they collect your name, email address, phone number, and whatever you choose to write in the message box. The volunteer form also records the areas you are interested in and your confirmation that you are 18 or over. The corporate enquiry form also records your organisation’s name and your role in it.
We use this to reply to you and to keep track of enquiries we have and have not answered. Volunteer applications and corporate enquiries are read by trustees and by the staff who run this website.
None of the forms accept file uploads. Please do not send us medical records, diagnoses, or details of anyone’s health through these forms. If you need to discuss a patient’s case, write to not yet published and we will tell you how to do so properly.
We do not record your IP address.
If you only read the site
Nothing. We run no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. See Cookies below for the two cookies the site does set.
Who else sees your information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else’s marketing. It goes to three service providers, and only for the purposes listed:
- Razorpay Software Private Limited — our payment gateway. Receives your name, contact details, and payment information in order to take the payment. Razorpay handles that information under its own privacy policy.
- Cloudflare, Inc. — provides the spam check (“Turnstile”) that runs when you submit a form. It sees a technical signal from your browser to decide whether you are a person. It does not receive your form’s contents.
- Brevo (Sendinblue SAS) — sends transactional email. Receives your name, your email address, and your receipt so it can deliver it. We do not use Brevo for newsletters or marketing.
We also disclose information where the law requires it — principally the annual statement of donations filed with the Income Tax Department, which names each donor who asked to be reported.
If a donor asks us not to display their name publicly, we honour that on the website. It is a separate thing from the donation being recorded and reported: a donation must always be attributable to the person who made it, because the trust has to account for it.
Cookies
The site sets two cookies, both necessary for it to work:
- one that remembers whether you are reading the site in English or Hindi, so you are not asked every visit;
- one set by Cloudflare Turnstile as part of the spam check on our forms.
There are no advertising cookies, no tracking cookies, and no analytics cookies. Because both cookies are strictly necessary, there is no cookie banner to click through. If we ever add analytics, we will change this policy and update the date at the top before doing so.
How long we keep it
Donation records: ten years. Indian income tax rules require a charitable trust to keep its books, its donor records, and its receipts for ten years from the end of the assessment year the donation falls in. We keep them for that period whether or not you later ask us to delete them, because we do not have a choice about it.
Donations that were started but never paid are stripped of every detail that identifies you within 48 hours. We keep only the fact that an attempt was made, as a count. We never received the money and it appears in no filing.
Volunteer, contact, and corporate partnership enquiries: indefinitely. We have set no deletion window for them. What you send through a form stays in the trust’s records for as long as the trust keeps them, as part of its own record of its correspondence. We would rather say that plainly than name a period we do not actually enforce — and you can ask us to erase yours at any time, which we will do.
Your rights
Under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you and who we have shared it with;
- correct or complete anything that is wrong or out of date;
- erase information you gave us;
- withdraw a consent you previously gave.
Write to the Grievance Officer at not yet published. We respond within 30 days.
One limit, stated plainly: we cannot erase a donation record on request. Once you have donated, the record of that donation is part of the trust’s statutory books, and income tax rules compel us to retain it for ten years — see above. Withdrawing consent stops us contacting you and removes your name from any public display, but the record itself stays until its retention period expires. This applies only to donations. Anything you sent through the volunteer, contact, or corporate enquiry forms can be erased on request.
Children’s information
This website publishes stories and photographs of children whose care the trust invites the public to support. Where it does, the page carries the child’s name, photograph, and details of their circumstances.
We publish nothing about a child without written consent from that child’s parent or guardian, signed on paper and held at the trust’s office. The child’s guardian may withdraw that consent at any time by writing to not yet published, and we will remove the child from the website. No reason is needed.
Children do not use this website’s forms. If you are under 18, please do not submit the volunteer form — ask a parent or guardian to contact us instead.
Security
Donation records and form submissions are held on a server the trust controls, with the disk encrypted. Access is limited to named individuals: the trustee responsible for finance can see donor identity documents, staff who manage website content cannot. Nobody shares a login.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the “Last updated” date at the top. Where the change affects what we collect or who receives it, the new date becomes the version recorded against consents given from then on. We do not notify past donors of changes.
